Winning has become a favorite pastime for the Gators, as we compete with some of the biggest rivals in college sports (we prefer to call those other teams Gator Bait).

Our most passionate fans are called the Rowdy Reptiles, and they can make Florida one of the toughest teams to play. The Rowdy Reptiles stand up for the entire game, are known for constant loud, enthusiastic cheering, and are a key factor in the Gator's athletic success.

The Gators compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and are consistently ranked among the top college sports programs in the United States. Florida is the only school in NCAA Division I history to hold the men's basketball and football championships during the same school year. We also are a school that brings home the gold, as in Olympic Gold. Since 1968, 163 Gators have represented 37 countries in 18 Olympiads. Former and current Gator athletes have laid claim to 109 medals, including 50 golds.

Since 1981, the Gator chomp has graced game days. Fans extend arms, one over the other, in front of the body with the palms facing each other. Right arm over left, then up and down to symbolize an alligator's mouth.

Since 2013, UF has invited past Gator players to serve as the pregame "Celebrity Mr. Two Bits," appearing in similar clothes to those worn by the original Mr. Two Bits, George Edmondson, Jr. Mr. Edmondson led this famous cheer at football games from 1949 until his retirement in 2008.

You gotta be crazy to camp out overnight for a cotton T-shirt, right? Yet, thousands of UF students do camp out and line up all around Emerson Alumni Hall to obtain the one-of-a-kind Beat T-shirt, distributed to the first 1,800 people at 10 a.m. the Friday before game day. It's just one of the many UF traditions that makes for lasting college memories.

Since the 1930s, We are the Boys From Old Florida has been the pep song sung at the end of the third quarter of home football games. More than 90,000 Gators will lock arms and sway back and forth while singing with pride to these lyrics:
