Dr. Neera Gupta, an associate professor of pediatrics and director of research at the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, has been elected vice-chair for the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) Institute Council Pediatric Gastroenterology and Developmental Biology Section. The AGA Institute maintains a council, comprised of elected representatives within the AGA membership, to address the diverse needs and specialties of its members.

Dr. Ralf Holzer, the David Wallace-Starr Foundation Professor of Clinical Pediatric Cardiology, professor of pediatrics in clinical medicine and of clinical pediatrics, has been appointed to the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions’ Congenital Heart Disease Council for a three-year term. The society promotes excellence in invasive and interventional cardiovascular medicine through education and representation, and the advancement of quality standards to enhance patient care.

Dr. Elaine Barfield, assistant professor of pediatrics, has been elected a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). Established in 1847, the academy is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life. Through their research, policy and program initiatives they provide they strive to address the structural and cultural barriers to good health and drive progress toward health equity. Dr. Barfield was formally inducted and celebrated at the NYAM Annual Meeting of the Fellows on November 7, 2019.
